Why Hiring a Wedding Officiant Team Matters | Custom Wedding Ceremonies in Greenwood and Indianapolis

This past weekend I had the opportunity to officiate two weddings on the same day at Valle Vista Golf Club in Greenwood, Indiana. Same venue. Same ceremony space. Two different couples with two very different ideas about how they wanted their wedding ceremony to look.

That is exactly what I enjoy about officiating weddings.

There is no single format a ceremony has to follow. Every couple has their own story, their own priorities, and their own vision for how they want to begin their marriage. The ceremony should reflect that. It should feel like the couple standing at the front of the room.

Many couples searching for a wedding officiant in Greenwood, Indiana or the Indianapolis area want a ceremony that reflects who they are as a couple, and that is exactly what we help create when couples work with me and my officiant team.

That is exactly what happened with both of these weddings.

Jessica and Eric created a ceremony centered around their faith and commitment. Kendyl and Cameron created a ceremony that included a grand entrance and a dramatic exit. Both ceremonies took place in the same space just hours apart, yet they felt completely different because they were designed around the couples themselves.

That is the value of a custom crafted ceremony.

Jessica and Eric’s Ceremony at Valle Vista Golf Club in Greenwood, Indiana

Jessica and Eric were the first ceremony of the day at Valle Vista. They had a full room of family and friends gathered to witness their vows. The ceremony space was filled with people who were there to support them as they started their marriage. One of the things that stood out right away was that they chose not to have a bridal party.

No bridesmaids. No groomsmen.

Jessica also chose to walk herself down the aisle, which created a strong and very intentional entrance. It placed the focus exactly where it should be, on the couple and the commitment they were about to make.

Their ceremony centered around their Christian faith and the commitment they were making before God, their families, and their friends. Faith based ceremonies often include prayer, scripture, and language that reflects the couple’s beliefs. For Jessica and Eric, this was very important and it shaped the tone of their ceremony.

This is exactly why a custom ceremony matters. Some couples want a ceremony centered on faith. Some want something simple and modern. Some want readings from family members. Some want humor woven into the ceremony. Some want something short and direct.

There is no right or wrong way. The key is making sure the ceremony reflects the couple.

Jessica and Eric’s ceremony did exactly that.

Kendyl and Cameron’s Ceremony at Valle Vista Gold Club in Greenwood, Indiana

Later that same day I officiated the ceremony for Kendyl and Cameron, and their wedding had a very different feel from the start. Kendyl made quite the entrance when she arrived in a horse drawn carriage, which immediately caught everyone’s attention and set the tone for the ceremony that was about to take place.

When it came time for the processional, Kendyl’s father walked her down the aisle, creating a special moment between the two of them before he placed her hand in Cameron’s. Kendyl and Cameron also chose to have a full bridal party standing with them during the ceremony. Their bridesmaids and groomsmen were all dressed in black.

Some people might hesitate about choosing black for a bridal party because they worry it may feel too dark for a wedding. In this case, it worked incredibly well. Valle Vista’s ceremony space has soft neutral tones and a lot of natural light pouring in through the windows. The black attire created a striking contrast against the light colors of the venue and the bright natural light filling the room. It gave the ceremony a very clean and polished look.

Once the ceremony began, Kendyl and Cameron stood surrounded by their closest friends and family as they exchanged their vows and officially became husband and wife. After the ceremony ended, guests lined up to create bubble alley, and Kendyl and Cameron rode through the bubbles together in the same horse drawn carriage they arrived in. As they rode away from the ceremony space they were sipping champagne and taking in the moment before heading off to celebrate with their guests.

Just like Jessica and Eric earlier in the day, Kendyl and Cameron created a ceremony that reflected exactly how they wanted their wedding to begin. Same venue. Same ceremony space. Completely different approach to the ceremony. That is one of the things I love most about officiating weddings. No two couples ever do it the same way.

Why Working With an Experienced Officiant Team Matters

When couples start planning their wedding, one decision that sometimes gets overlooked is who will actually officiate the ceremony. Many couples consider asking a friend or family member to perform the ceremony. It sounds like a great idea at first. Someone close to you stands up and marries you. But what many couples do not realize is that this can quickly become stressful for the person they asked.

When someone officiates your wedding they are responsible for:

  • Writing or delivering the ceremony
  • Guiding the processional and recessional
  • Managing timing
  • Handling the legal paperwork
  • Keeping the ceremony moving smoothly. That is a lot to ask from someone who has never done it before.

When couples work with me and my officiant team, your family and friends get to remain exactly where they belong on your wedding day. Sitting in the audience, watching the ceremony, and celebrating with you. They do not have to worry about running the ceremony or managing the logistics.

Custom Crafted Ceremonies

Every couple who works with me is involved in building their ceremony. We talk about the tone they want. Whether they want faith included. If they want personal stories. If they want something short and simple. From there we create a ceremony that reflects the two of them.

Couples have full input and final approval on the script so they know exactly what will be said on their wedding day. Your ceremony should never feel like it came from a template or a generic script. It should sound like you.

Rehearsal Guidance When You Need It

Not every couple hires a wedding planner or wedding coordinator. When that happens, the wedding rehearsal can quickly become confusing.

  • Who walks first?
  • Where does everyone stand?
  • When do parents enter?
  • What does the order look like?

If a couple does not have a planner or coordinator, our officiant team can help guide the rehearsal so everyone understands exactly what to do when the ceremony begins. A well organized rehearsal makes the ceremony run smoothly and removes a lot of stress for the couple.

Our Team of Celebrants, Officiants, Pastors and Ministers

One thing that makes our company unique is that we are not a single officiant working alone. We have a team of celebrants who officiate weddings throughout Central Indiana. Having a team allows us to support couples in many different ways and ensures reliable coverage for weddings.

Within our team we also offer some additional options couples appreciate. We have an active church pastor on our team who is available to officiate ceremonies and provide premarital counseling for couples who want that guidance before their wedding day.

We also have an officiant on our team who speaks Spanish as a second language, which can be helpful for couples who have Spanish speaking family members attending their wedding. Weddings bring together families, cultures, and traditions. Having options available allows couples to create a ceremony that fits their situation.

One of the things couples often do not realize at the beginning of planning is just how much the ceremony sets the tone for the wedding day. The ceremony is not just the part that gets you legally married. It is the reason the entire day exists. That is why I always encourage couples to think carefully about what they want their ceremony to feel like.

  • Do you want it rooted in faith?
  • Do you want it simple and direct?
  • Do you want personal touches woven in?
  • Do you want a traditional structure or something more modern?

When couples work with me and my officiant team, we help walk through those questions and build a ceremony that fits the couple. This is also where rehearsal guidance can make a huge difference. If you do not have a planner or coordinator, having someone help organize the lineup, processional order, and ceremony flow can save a lot of confusion.

For couples planning a wedding in Greenwood, Indianapolis, or anywhere in Central Indiana, having support with the ceremony itself is one of the smartest decisions you can make.

Planning Your Wedding Ceremony

Your wedding ceremony is the reason the entire day exists. Everything else happens after the vows are spoken. That is why the ceremony deserves attention, planning, and care. It should reflect who you are and how you want to begin your marriage.
