Jovey & Cameron’s Rainy Day Wedding at Bay Horse Inn That Turned Out Absolutely NON RAINY

There are some wedding days that just stick with you forever and Jovey & Cameron’s wedding at Bay Horse Inn is absolutely one of those weddings for me. Not because everything went perfectly all day long. Honestly, it rained for a good portion of the day. But because everybody handled it with such a good attitude, the vendor team worked together so well, and in true Indiana fashion, the weather basically decided to stop being dramatic at the VERY last minute and gave these two the outdoor wedding ceremony they had hoped for all along.

And honestly? It made the entire day feel even more special.

Starting the Wedding Weekend at the Cabin at Bay Horse Inn

One thing I absolutely love about Bay Horse Inn is that it really gives couples options and flexibility throughout the entire wedding day experience.

Jovey and her girls stayed overnight at the beautiful cabin located directly behind the barn on the property and honestly, it made the morning SO much easier and more relaxed for everybody. Instead of rushing around town or trying to coordinate ten people getting ready in separate places, everybody could just wake up slowly, hang out together, eat lunch, laugh, and actually enjoy the morning. And trust me, that matters way more than people realize.

The cabin itself is spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and perfect for bridal party preparations. There was plenty of room for hair and makeup, details photos, snacks everywhere, music playing, people relaxing on the couches, and honestly just a really laid back atmosphere all morning long.

No chaos. No stress. Nobody running around screaming because they forgot something at home. Just a really good morning with good people. And as a wedding planner, I LOVE seeing that because the tone of the morning honestly affects the tone of the entire day.

Hair & Makeup by Black Swan Beauty

Hair and makeup for the day was provided by Black Swan Beauty and if you know me at all, you know I absolutely love working with them.

We have worked alongside each other for years and they are always professional, organized, calm, and incredibly talented. Because yes, everybody wants beautiful hair and makeup obviously, but couples also need vendors who can stay on timeline, communicate well, adapt quickly, and keep the morning moving smoothly.

The girls looked phenomenal. And Jovey? Absolutely stunning. Her look fit the entire vibe of the day perfectly. Soft, elegant, relaxed, timeless, and just genuinely beautiful without feeling overly overdone.

A Wedding Day Full of First Looks

One thing I absolutely loved about this wedding day was how many special private moments Jovey chose to create throughout the day.

I will forever recommend first looks to couples because it gives them a chance to slow down and actually experience moments together before the day starts flying by.

And Jovey planned several incredibly emotional first looks. She did a first look with her bridesmaids, which was such a fun moment because their reactions were exactly what you would expect from your best friends when they finally see you fully dressed and wedding ready. Then she shared a first look with her dad, which was emotional for pretty much everybody standing nearby pretending not to cry. Then with her brother. And finally with Cameron. And honestly, THAT moment made everything else disappear for a minute.

It is always amazing watching couples finally see each other after months or years of planning a wedding together. There is usually this huge release of nerves once they are finally together and you can physically see both people relax. That happened immediately with these two. The second they saw each other, everything else kind of faded into the background for a little bit. Which was honestly nice because outside? The weather was still doing whatever it wanted.

The Rain. SO Much Rain!

Listen. Indiana weather in May likes to keep wedding planners and photographers humble.

It rained on and off throughout a good portion of the day and there were definitely moments where we were all side eyeing the radar and trying to mentally prepare for needing to move the ceremony indoors. And I am not going to lie, everybody was getting nervous.

Because the outdoor ceremony space at Bay Horse Inn is BEAUTIFUL. And Jovey and Cameron really wanted that outdoor ceremony. But here is the thing I always tell couples. You cannot control the weather.
You CAN control the energy around you. And nobody panicked. Not the couple. Not the families. Not the vendor team. Our GOAL and JOB is to keep a smile on our faces and our attitudes LIGHT and Calm. Because that attitude will roll over onto everyone. Everybody stayed positive, flexible, and calm while we continued preparing for every possible scenario.

And THAT is why having experienced wedding vendors matters so much. Nobody was spiraling. Nobody was creating unnecessary stress. Everybody just kept working the problem while staying calm.

Then Suddenly…The Rain Stopped

And I swear this happened at the absolute LAST possible minute. About 10 to 15 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start, the rain stopped. The clouds started breaking apart. And suddenly all of us basically went into wedding day survival mode.😂

Everybody ran outside. Chairs got dried off. Final touches got done. Guests started getting seated. Music started. And somehow, after a full rainy day, Jovey and Cameron got the outdoor ceremony they wanted all along. And it was BEAUTIFUL.

It made the ceremony feel even more emotional because everybody knew how close we had come to needing to completely pivot the plan. Instead, they got married outside surrounded by family, friends, fresh air, and one very relieved wedding planner and photography team.

Why Bay Horse Inn Works So Well for Weddings

One of the reasons I genuinely love working at Bay Horse Inn is because the venue has SO much flexibility. Especially in Indiana where weather forecasts basically mean nothing half the time.

Couples can have:

  • Outdoor ceremonies
  • Indoor ceremonies
  • Indoor receptions
  • Outdoor cocktail spaces
  • Gorgeous photo opportunities everywhere
  • Overnight accommodations
  • Multiple getting ready spaces

The property itself feels welcoming, relaxed, and incredibly versatile. And then there is The Saloon. Which honestly deserves its own paragraph because it is SUCH a cool feature at Bay Horse Inn.

Yes, obviously guests love grabbing drinks there. But it is also one of the BEST photo spots on the property. The vibe inside is incredible for portraits, candid photos, wedding party pictures, and just fun moments throughout the day. It gives couples something different visually and Rogue Images absolutely used that space beautifully throughout the wedding day..

Photography by Rogue Images Photography

I have worked with Rogue Images Photography for years and they continue to be one of my favorite teams to work alongside. Not only are they incredibly talented photographers, but they are TEAM players. That matters so much more than people realize.

Wedding days flow better when vendors genuinely work together instead of operating like separate islands all day long. We all help each other. Communicate constantly. Adjust when needed. Problem solve together. That teamwork changes the entire energy of a wedding day.

Cody with Rogue Images did an amazing job capturing everything from the emotional first looks to the ceremony, reception, details, dancing, and all the candid little moments in between. And even with the weather challenges, they never missed a beat. Honestly, some of my favorite wedding photos happen on cloudy or rainy wedding days because the lighting can end up being absolutely gorgeous.

Jovey-Cameron Florals

Florals by I Do Flowers by Sarah Wong

The florals for the wedding were provided by I Do Flowers by Sarah Wong and they were stunning. Sarah created gorgeous large floral installations for the outdoor arbor and they completely transformed the ceremony space.

And one thing I LOVE when couples do? Repurposing ceremony florals for the reception. Please do this, Seriously. You are already paying for these beautiful floral pieces. Use them more than once.

After the ceremony, those gorgeous floral installations were moved inside and repurposed around the mantle and sweetheart table which completely tied the reception space together. The reception design itself was elegant without feeling overdone. Soft pops of blue and white. Floating candles. Beautiful table settings. Warm lighting. It felt intimate, relaxed, and romantic without trying too hard.

Full Decor Setup by Our Team

Our team handled all of the decor setup throughout the venue and honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons couples hire a wedding planner.

Nobody wants their mom, maid of honor, aunt, or cousin running around setting chargers on tables three hours before the ceremony. And they should not have to.

Basically, all the little things couples spend months collecting and planning for we take care of. And when couples walk into their reception space for the first time and everything is already finished and beautiful? That reaction is ALWAYS worth it.

Grafton Peak Catering Absolutely Delivered

I have worked with Grafton Peak Catering multiple times and once again they absolutely knocked it out of the park. The food was incredible. The service was smooth. Guests loved everything.

And TRUST ME, people remember food. They REALLY do. Guests were raving about dinner all night and the dessert selection was such a fun addition too.

Instead of focusing heavily on a giant traditional wedding cake, Jovey and Cameron chose to do a smaller cutting cake from Cake Me Happy for themselves while guests enjoyed desserts provided by Grafton Peak Catering. And let me tell you. That peach cobbler? Absolutely ridiculous. The brownies? Gone quickly.

Guests loved having options and it made the reception feel even more relaxed and welcoming.

DJ Carlos Bates with DJ AI Kept the Dance Floor Packed

I have worked with Carlos Bates from DJ AI for MANY years and he continues to be one of the best DJs to work with. And honestly, being a great wedding DJ is so much more than just pressing play on music.

Carlos understands how to read a room.
He meets with couples beforehand. He understands their personalities. Their vibe.
Their music preferences. Their crowd. And he keeps the night MOVING. He was an amazing MC throughout the reception and the dance floor stayed packed all night long.

And listen………….. the ending of the reception was one of my favorite parts of the entire night!! Toward the end of the evening, Jovey wanted everybody out on the dance floor singing Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.” And they absolutely DID. Every single person was out there singing, dancing, laughing, and just fully enjoying the night together.

It was one of those moments where you look around the room and think:
“Yep. This is exactly what weddings are supposed to feel like.” Nobody wanted the night to end. That is always the sign of a great wedding.

Jovey Cameron Team

Why Experienced Vendor Teams Matter

One thing I tell couples all the time is this:

Having vendors who know each other and work together regularly genuinely changes the entire wedding experience.

  • Communication is smoother.
  • Timelines flow better.
  • Problem solving happens faster.

Everybody supports one another. And that absolutely showed throughout Jovey and Cameron’s wedding day. This vendor team worked together so naturally that even with weather stress, the day still felt calm and organized. That is not luck. That comes from experience.

Final Thoughts on Jovey & Cameron’s Wedding Day

After working with Jovey for well over a year planning this wedding, finally seeing everything come together was incredibly rewarding. These are the wedding days I love the most.

The ones where people stay flexible. Laugh through the chaos. Trust their vendor team. And focus on what actually matters. At the end of the night, nobody was talking about the rain. They were talking about the amazing ceremony, the packed dance floor and the music, the food, the atmosphere and how incredible the entire day was.

And THAT is what matters at the end of the night. Yeah, my feet hurt. YES, my back hurt. I’ll be fully honest here, IT ALL HURT! But, it was worth it! All 9.46 Miles of it.

Congratulations again to Jovey & Cameron. Thank you for trusting me to help bring this wedding day to life. It truly was one of my favorite weddings in a long time and one I will always remember.

With Love,
Bretta
