Grace & Connor’s Wedding day at Hawthorns Golf & Country Club | Was Animals Wolverine Fishers, Indiana

Some Couples Just Make Wedding Days Easy. Some couples just make wedding days easy. Not because they don’t care about details. Quite the opposite, actually. Grace and Connor put a lot of thought into their wedding, but they never lost sight of what the day was really about. They wanted a beautiful wedding, they wanted their friends and family to have a great time, and they wanted to actually enjoy the day themselves. Mission accomplished. I was originally hired as their officiant, but as planning continued they decided they wanted a little extra support on wedding day and added coordination services. Honestly, I was glad they did because it allowed them to focus on being present instead of worrying about timelines, vendors, and all the little things that happen behind the scenes.

The Veil That Stopped Everyone in Their Tracks

When I arrived at Hawthorns that morning, one of the first things I saw was Grace’s dress hanging in the window. It was gorgeous, but what really caught my attention was the veil. If you’ve looked through their wedding photos, you already know exactly what I’m talking about. That veil showed up everywhere throughout the day and ended up being part of some of the most incredible photos Megan Premuda captured. And speaking of photos, Megan absolutely knocked it out of the park. I’ve been part of a lot of weddings over the years. Thousands, actually. Every now and then there are photos that make you stop scrolling for a second and take a closer look. Grace and Connor ended up with a whole collection of those. The veil photos are stunning. The portraits are stunning. The ceremony photos are stunning. Honestly, the hardest part for them is probably going to be deciding which ones to frame.

A Wedding That Felt Like Them From Start to Finish

One thing I loved about this wedding was that it felt like them from start to finish. Nothing felt forced and nothing felt overcomplicated. Nothing felt like they were trying to recreate something they saw on social media. It was elegant, relaxed, and comfortable. The kind of wedding where guests immediately settle in and enjoy themselves because everything feels natural. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful. Indiana weather decided to cooperate for once, which is always a bonus, and Hawthorns provided the perfect backdrop. As guests arrived, there was a lot of excitement but very little stress. That’s something I noticed throughout the entire day. Grace and Connor were genuinely excited to get married, but neither of them seemed caught up in the chaos that sometimes sneaks into wedding days. They trusted their vendor team and they trusted the planning. And because of that, they were able to enjoy themselves.

Flowers, Details, and a Head Table Worth Talking About

The flowers from Oberer’s were one of my favorite details. I loved that they weren’t afraid of color. Bright pinks, oranges, yellows, and purples filled the bouquets and reception space and looked incredible against the neutral backdrop of Hawthorns. So many weddings play it safe with flowers. Grace and Connor didn’t. The color brought so much personality into the room and made everything feel vibrant without being overwhelming. When guests entered the reception space, the flowers immediately caught your eye. The head table was especially beautiful. The floral design stretched across the front and tied everything together perfectly. Between the flowers, the ceiling draping, and the clean setup throughout the room, it created a great focal point without feeling overdone. I also loved that Grace and Connor chose a head table. There is always debate between a sweetheart table and a head table, but I personally love seeing couples sit with the people who have been standing beside them throughout the planning process. Throughout the evening there was constant laughter at that table, and you could tell everyone was having a great time. The team at Black Swan Beauty had everyone looking amazing, Big Sand Productions kept the reception moving, Kim’s Kakery created a beautiful cake, and the Hawthorns staff did a fantastic job as always. When great vendors work together, wedding days simply run smoother. This was one of those days.

The Ceremony and the Moments Couples Often Miss

As both the coordinator and officiant, I had the chance to see everything from the beginning. I saw the excitement while everyone was getting ready. I saw family members arriving and greeting one another. I saw Connor waiting for the ceremony to begin. I saw Grace preparing to walk down the aisle. Those moments are some of my favorites because they’re often the moments couples miss while everything is happening around them. Then before you know it, the ceremony starts. The walk down the aisle happens. The vows are exchanged. The rings go on. The kiss happens. And suddenly they’re married. The ceremony was personal, relaxed, and focused on what mattered most. Afterward, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while photos wrapped up and the reception space was ready for the evening.

Watching a Couple Finally Slow Down and Enjoy It

One thing that stood out to me throughout the reception was how relaxed Grace and Connor were. That’s not always the case. Sometimes couples spend their reception answering questions, fixing problems, checking on vendors, and worrying about things nobody else even notices. Grace and Connor didn’t have to do that. They spent time with family and with friends. They laughed, they ate, and they enjoyed themselves. They got to actually experience their wedding day instead of managing it. That’s one of the biggest reasons couples hire wedding coordinators, and it’s exactly why I love what I do. There is always a moment during a wedding where I can see a couple finally take a breath and realize everything is done. The planning is over. The hard part is over. The timeline is working. Everyone is having fun. Now they get to enjoy it. I remember seeing that moment with Grace and Connor. They were sitting together, talking with friends, taking everything in, and simply enjoying being married. No stress. No rushing around. No worrying. Just enjoying the day they had spent so much time planning. Honestly, that’s my favorite part of any wedding. Not the flowers. Not the décor. Not the cake. Ok, MAYBE the cake 😆 Watching a couple finally slow down enough to enjoy the day. Grace and Connor, thank you for trusting me to be part of such an important chapter in your lives. You had an incredible supportive team around you, a beautiful venue, gorgeous photos, and one of the most talked about veils I’ve seen all year. Most importantly, you had a wedding day that felt like you. If you’re looking for support on your wedding day, I’d love to meet you and talk about our planning and Wedding Coordination experience. Remember the beauty of your day. With love, Bretta
