Not on Our Watch: Emily Steps In for Bridget and James

September 24, 2026 · Bay Horse Inn · Greenwood, Indiana

Emily was hired to officiate Bridget and James’s wedding at Bay Horse Inn. She ended up doing a whole lot more.

When she arrived for their rehearsal, their wedding coordinator never showed up. As the family looked into what was happening, they learned of reports that other couples had been scammed by the same coordinator.

Imagine being that close to your wedding and finding out the person you trusted to manage everything isn’t coming. You still have vendors, a schedule, and a room full of people who need to know what happens next.

Emily could have handled the ceremony rehearsal and gone home. That was what she had been hired to do.

But if you know Emily, you already know that wasn’t happening.

Her response? NOT on our watch.

Congratulations Bridget and James!

She stepped in, coordinated the rehearsal, and told the family she wasn’t going to leave them dealing with this stress on their own. Then she got to work.

And by “got to work,” I don’t mean she offered a few suggestions and wished them luck.

She gathered as much information as possible, created a wedding day timeline, contacted the vendors, and pulled the details together. She took on their wedding day coordination at no additional charge because she simply couldn’t walk away knowing they needed help.

Sometimes you look at a situation and say, “I’m not letting this happen to you.”

On September 24, 2026, Emily returned to Bay Horse Inn to officiate and coordinate Bridget and James’s wedding. A little different from the original job description? Absolutely. But she had a plan, had connected with their vendors, and was ready to see it through.

And their wedding was beautiful!

That’s the part I want people to remember. Bridget and James had someone there to manage their day. Their family didn’t have to figure everything out alone, and a coordinator’s failure to show up didn’t get to define their wedding.

Was it our job to coordinate? No.
Was it the right thing to do? Yes!

This is why I’m so fortunate to have this woman on my team.

Emily brings true professionalism to Weddings By Bretta. She brings passion and respect for each couple’s day, and she backs it up with action. When something goes wrong, couples need someone who can think clearly, make a plan, and follow through. That’s exactly what she did.

Whether she’s planning, coordinating, or presiding over a ceremony, Emily takes her responsibility seriously. She also knows when it’s time to roll up her sleeves and help.

Bridget and James, congratulations! We’re so glad Emily was there to help you have the day you had planned.

And Emily? This is why you belong on this team. You make sure each couple’s day is their way, in every way—even when the job gets a very unexpected addition.
