Milli & Kyle’s Wedding Day at Ash & Oak in Avon, Indiana

There are some wedding days that just feel easy in the best way. The kind where everything flows, the couple is relaxed, and you can tell from the very beginning that the day is going to unfold exactly how it should. That was Milli and Kyle’s wedding day at Ash & Oak.

From the moment I arrived, there was this calm, steady energy. The kind that tells you the couple trusted their decisions and trusted the team around them. Those are always the best days.

I had the honor of serving as their wedding officiant, standing with them as they made their commitment. Ash & Oak has an incredible team in place, and they handled the flow of the day beautifully. It is always such a great experience working alongside a venue team that truly knows how to take care of their couples.

A Venue That Truly Delivers

Ash & Oak is one of those venues that immediately gives you options. Located in Avon, Indiana, it blends rustic charm with a clean, elevated feel. The barn is stunning with warm wood tones, open space, and a layout that works beautifully for both ceremonies and receptions.

What I love most about this property is the variety of photo opportunities. You do not have to go off site to get amazing images. The open fields, mature trees, and natural light create so many perfect backdrops throughout the day.

It makes everything feel seamless and relaxed, which is exactly what you want. You can browse more of our venue partners across Central Indiana to find a space that fits your vision.

April in Indiana… You Just Never Know

If you are planning a wedding in Indiana, especially in April, you already know how unpredictable the weather can be.

Cold one day. Rain the next. Wind. Sunshine. Sometimes all in the same afternoon.

Milli and Kyle made a smart decision and chose to have their ceremony indoors. It gave them consistency and peace of mind, no matter what the forecast decided to do. And of course, the weather turned out absolutely beautiful. Blue skies, sunshine, and one of those perfect spring days.

But here is the thing. Their choice was still the right one. They did not spend the morning worrying about weather apps or backup plans. They got to stay present and enjoy every part of their day.

A Ceremony That Reflected Them

One of the most important parts of what I do is creating a customized ceremony script for every couple I work with.

There is no copy and paste here. No generic wording pulled from the internet.

I take the time to learn about each couple, their story, their personalities, and what they want their ceremony to feel like. Because the ceremony should be a direct reflection of them.

For Milli and Kyle, their ceremony felt natural, warm, and easy to connect with. Their guests were engaged, smiling, and fully present in the moment.

That is always the goal. Your ceremony should not feel like something you have heard before. It should feel like you.

Thoughtful Style Choices

The design of this wedding was simple in the best way, with just enough detail to make everything feel pulled together.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful plum dresses that added depth and richness to the space. Their bouquets included soft pops of plum that tied everything together, and the bride’s bouquet complemented the look perfectly.

It all worked without feeling overdone.

Cabaret Style Seating That Changed the Feel

Guests were seated inside the barn in a cabaret style setup, which created a more relaxed and intimate environment.

Instead of straight rows, this layout allowed guests to feel more connected and comfortable. It also blended beautifully into the reception space, making the transition from ceremony to celebration feel effortless.

The Pie Buffet That Everyone Loved

Let’s talk about one of the most fun parts of the day.

Milli and Kyle chose a pie buffet instead of a traditional wedding cake. And it was such a great choice.

Guests had multiple options, which made dessert feel more interactive and personal. It created conversation and gave everyone something a little different to enjoy.

They even placed their cake topper on top of one of the pies, which was such a fun touch. It tied in tradition while still doing something that felt true to them. That is exactly what a wedding should be.

Why Personalization Matters

Everything about this day came back to intentional choices. Nothing felt like it was done just because it is what you are supposed to do. Every detail had a purpose.

That is what makes a wedding stand out. Not how big it is. Not how elaborate it is. But how personal it feels.
